What’s Walkin’ Joe Thinking?

Horror...Humanness…Humor!
Good day folks.
The entire Mid Eastern Team had a good time with the Driver Appreciation specials and all the conversations that were spurred by this. We are thankful, all encompassing, for the many folks that participate in the Trucking industry.
As to my WJ thinking. Maybe everyone knows this but maybe not. Here in the southeast, there is occasionally this odd weather phenomenon that takes place. When everything lines up; the outside temperature, this temperature inversion in the air above the ground or water and when the exact level of humidity happens. Fog appears seemingly out of nowhere. At times it happens over a body of water first and then moves right on to the land mass surrounding or vice versa. Thick seemingly boiling air fog appears.
Last Thursday Oct 1, 26 this very thing happened just a very short while after daybreak right over the center of Lake Marion along the I-95 corridor. Clear and then completely blinded by zero visibility fog. A tragedy and miracles followed close behind. The last seemingly reliable count I heard was 67 various vehicles involved in a massive pileup that stretched most of the length of the southbound lanes over bridge. This had to be horrific for a few hours sitting in zero visibility not seeing what happened and then as horrifying all over again as the fog lifted and it became visual. No serious injuries at least that I heard and no death. None. The images that followed were breathtakingly scarry. Heavy loads of Miracles and Grace were poured out.
After a few days passed and the images were still showing up on social media and various networks I saw something that spurred a humorous lawyer joke. I did realize that I couldn’t do it out of respect and the chance of even one offended individual that felt abused by the humor as they were suffering. Then on top of that I received a good message from an attorney helping me with some matters. It wasn’t related to a work injury or a big truck. I don’t know where you are but in these parts the TV commercials are out of bounds. Political parties and candidates bash each other one behind the other. Lawyers, lawyers, lawyers, lawyers, lawyers, and more lawyers, vying for the chance to help you sue somebody or something for anything. Trip over your untied shoelace walking to your car, probably parked in the wrong place, do not get up. Lay right there and dial ____- ___- ____. We’ll come to you! Speaking of cars. The poor car dealers can hardly slip in a commercial these days.
On that same day, totally unrelated in a different spot I witnessed something that became humorous to me. Y’all got any roundabouts that popped up around your area? We do. I’m in favor of a good well-placed roundabout. I was on my travel to Mid Eastern and was approaching the circle. At this time, I would guess there were 5 to 6 vehicles in various phases of approach, placement in the circle, or on departure including me. A sparsely populated moment in time. This vehicle, soon to be the subject matter thankfully had well tinted windows. This is important because it keeps me out of the trouble of profiling or gender bashing. This is important, very important these days. This car, the person in it, I’m saying, had a person in it as there were no visible radars whirling around all over it, has now initiated the left turn signal. Careful, are you with me, the left turn signal is flashing. I shook my head and likely made a wild facial expression; my windows are also tinted, and I whizzed on out toward Mid Eastern. I wondered, reckon that car will still be in the circle when I head home. Thought about it then too. Then, if it wrecked into the center, would there be a lawyer involved?
Not much about trucks today. More about people. There are tragedies and sadness and turmoil all around us no matter where you are and there is also Grace, Miracles, Humor, and all-around Good Humanness in every direction. Since it is here for you and for me, perhaps we should also give it. Drive safe. Be careful out there. The zoo goes for miles. Be kind to your neighbors.
All the Best!
