What’s Walkin’ Joe Thinking?

02-27-26

I’ve Won!   The “Ultimate” Gift.

Good day everyone.

I’m just letting you know right out of the gate, the next one I write is going to have some content about health, yours, and some product at Mid Eastern. I know, for you right out of the gate is a question even if it’s ever so vaguely in your mind. What in the world could be at Mid Eastern that’s even remotely about my health? That’s next time.

Have you ever had something small, seemingly insignificant, and simplistic that turns out to be not any of those things. You ever let some small thought you were having, maybe summed up in just one or a few words just jump right out of your mouth. One simple word turns into something traumatic AND Huge. See what I mean, simple yet turn into something big. Just to get you thinking and wondering. Just FYI, I’m not thinking of controversial. Here goes nothing or maybe everything.

As the ending months of 2025 were nearing and with winter approaching, I got to thinking on a project so to speak. This friend and manufacturing partner could make these Fire Pits. Yes, They have Mid Eastern and Walkin’ Joe cut outs in them, and we produced four of these pits. It became an amazing and a bit unexpected journey to find the places thought to be fitting for this four-destination expedition. The parameters for these places needed to embrace several traits, qualities, and characteristics. Family. Friends. Quality. Camaraderie. Stories. Smiles. Laughter. And Possibly Food. (You knew it would be in there. Something. S'mores or hotdog on a stick.) Four separate journeys to four fitting spots. One in the deep SC Lowcountry in an area full of its own tales. One in the Eastern Plain’s area just inward of the Charleston SC Coastal Region. One in the Lower Sandhills area of NC Hill Country. The last one made its way to the Northwestern NC Mountains. Part of this journey for me was realizing that the folks with those traits I was searching for are the hardest folks in the world to convince them to ask for something. Not for sale. Not winning by drawing, purchases, or hook & crook. No strings attached. It took months. I feel like I’ve been herding loose and wild cats, like the feline type of cat herding.

Here’s the line in all these months of work. It really hasn’t been much like work. Those pits will for certain and without a doubt get burned, black, at times rusty and charred. Some folks for a little while might think of Mid Eastern or even WJ when they light em off, get em rolling with a nice fire flame or not. Most will likely not. They may get moved around to places and people with no knowledge at all about these. However, for a long time to come, at every fire lighting, at every passing thought of someone enjoying times around the fire in the yard, out by the shop, or wherever they get placed I will be there.

How about this. I’ve got a wrap on this at the 500-word mark. (Just by chance)

I am the Winner! I am Thankful! The “ultimate” gift is mine!

Be careful. Stay Focused. Be kind to your neighbors. Good things are ahead!
