Wild Side With The Dog Man!
#4 November 2025
I present this foreword just for the possibility of clarification:
In slang, "wildcat" can mean a risky and speculative business venture, or it can describe a person who is aggressive, quick-tempered, or a hustler. We have all of this going on!
Good day Folks.
I have once again taken myself back in time. I don’t know what’s been in your circle but there aren’t many in mine that haven’t touched the wild side in many ways. In the mid 80’s as the truck washing began ramping up another customer came along as the story begins. We’re back in the day of the truck wash being the sole service and entire being of Mid Eastern. This guy shows up with this unheard-of fancy truck. For that make of truck, it had to be the fanciest ever in this part of the country or maybe anywhere. Up on the wind deflector on top of the cab there was a detailed painting of Bull Dogs pulling a covered wagon. This is after all, my reflection and it’s been a long time. This rig was immaculate front to back and top to bottom. The guys were always glad to see this guy coming. The days go on and as the years go on the equipment changes and this same guy gets a new rig. Sometimes these guys were hard to please and sometimes it was hard getting employees that wanted to please them. The winter months were harsh on the trucks from the north and harsh on us. This one time, a scratch on an air cleaner revealed itself after the white cover of snow and salt was removed and that darn near took us to a gun fight in the street. In those days I wasn’t sure if I needed that gun in my pocket to protect me from those around the area, off the interstate or my own employees. I can’t really describe that scene or the words that were flying in good taste. This day turned out to be very stressful. It was a wild one for sure! I recently saw a photo of a wrecked truck of his. What if a shot went off over that tiny scratch? I suppose it could have prevented that wreck! People are sometimes so sensitive! These were some wild times when multitudes of folks from all over and from many different walks of life would come to Mid Eastern. However, there are a tremendous amount of wonderful memories too.
I am happy about forgiveness and the changes that come from within over the course of time. I once made a big run up through that northern country visiting as many of my customers’ places as I could. I visited him and his wife at their home in the PA countryside. This guy is still living and so am I and that is sort of a miracle on its own accord. We still periodically chat and always reminisce about the people, the rigs and the stories and how old we are now! I realized recently that I better hurry up and write this one.
Thanksgiving is just a minute away. The cool weather is here. Get yourself thinking that way! I’m not talking about the cool, I’m talking about the Thanking!
I delivered the first WJ fire pit yesterday. I am still wondering about the way of making the decision for where the next one gets delivered. You may need to look back at the last couple of writings or a recent video where I was speaking about these at the end. If you don’t have those mailings, as I understand about all the deleting, just look at the bottom of our Mid Eastern home page.
Remember our mottos. “More Than You Think” and “Serving Those That Move America Since 1985” It cool and sometimes downright cold out now. Be Cool. Stay cool headed. Drive safely! Stay Thankful and Be Kind To Your Neighbors!
